Promotion ASEAN & Korean Studies
Jointly initiated by the AUN and Hankuk University
of Foreign Studies, this programme aims to promote and strengthen
Korean studies in Southeast Asia countries as well as Southeast
Asian Studies in Korea .
As an initial, but crucial, step to launch the
AUN-HUFS Korean Studies Project, both sides signed the Memorandum
of Understanding on June 2, 2004 . Dr. Supachai Yavaprabhas, former
AUN Executive Director and Dr. Byong Man Ahn, HUFS President signed
the agreement to exert their best efforts to reach an earliest
and positive conclusion through mutual discussion regarding concrete
measures and details necessary for promoting ASEAN and Korean
Studies in East Asian Region.
Activities:
The proposed MA Programme in Korean Studies includes
intensive Korean language course, cultural events, student/faculty
exchange, academic conference, annual workshop/seminar and translation
project. To implement these activities, the ASEAN Center for Korea
Studies will be established at Chulalongkorn University , Thailand
.
